Murrayshall Hotel to begin a new era New partners say hotel and golf club’s gem of a business
Murrayshall Country House and Hotel in Scone has new owners, it has been announced this week.
It has been acquired by joint venture partners Stellar Asset Management and Hetherley Capital Partners in a deal that they say will herald a new chapter for the 375-acre country house hotel estate and golf club.
The four-star, 41-bedroom Murrayshall House Hotel and Golf Club has had a longstanding reputation as one of the leading hotel and wedding venues in the Big County offering 2-AA Rosette fine dining, luxury accommodation and a range of activities, including golf, hiking and clay shooting.
Previously owned and operated by Old Scone Limited for more than 20 years, the new owners bring a wealth of hotel operations, investment and asset management expertise to bear at the hotel, with Murrayshall becoming their seventh hotel within a growing portfolio of hotels in the UK and Ireland.
The new owners say they are already eyeing potential investment opportunities.
Speaking on behalf of the partnership, Charles Scudamore, Principal of Hetherley Capital Partners, commented: “We are delighted to have acquired such a high-quality hotel and golf club with, what we see as, enormous potential for the future.
“In the golf club, we have inherited a fantastic base of loyal members who can now look forward to investment and improvement in their facilities, both on and off the course.
“In the hotel, we have little gem of a business that clearly requires a little polishing, but equally has tremendous potential. Our ambitions for Murrayshall are justifiably high and we look forward to welcoming as many guests, past and present, back to the Hotel as soon as possible.”
Charles added: “We are already putting in place a programme of works for 2017 which will benefit both hotel guests and golf club members alike. Clearly some aspects of what we recognise needs changing is going to require patience but we are fully committed to providing a much brighter future for all stakeholders at Murrayshall.” Hotel Murrayshall
