Wine label gets a merry makeover

Errol winery celebrates 30 years in business

- Staff Reporter

Errol-based fruit wine success story, Cairn O’Mohr, is celebrating 30 years in the business with a fresh look to its bottle labels.

Owners Ron and Judith Gillies consistently produce high quality berry wines that have seen them build up the Cairn O’Mohr name into Scotland’s oldest and largest winery.

The Perthshire winery boasts a shop, café and the bottling line employs 15 people.

The couple started their business in 1987 armed with little more than a ‘teach yourself wine making’ manual.

Now the Cairn O’Mohr drinks, made from local fruit and trees picked within a 25-mile radius of their farm, are available in supermarkets UK-wide and recently won a BBC Food and Farming Award.

In celebration of their 30 years in business, new bottle labels have been designed for the core range of wines, updating the familiar Cairn O’Mohr peacock while keeping the Celtic-style design.

Judith Gillies said: “We felt it was the right time to give the bottles a makeover and we’re excited to see the new bottles hit the shelves over the next couple of weeks.

“Ron and I can’t believe we have made it to such a significant milestone.

“From humble beginnings making a few bottles of wine a year, we have turned our home winemaking into a flourishing business.

“Being a part of the local community and using local Cairn O’Mohr winery owners Ron and Judith Gillies produce is very important to us.

“Every part of the wine making process happens on site, from making the wine to bottling and distributing.”
