Perth Airport business bought in aviation deal

- Paul Cargill

Glasgow-based aviation firm Cloud Global Ltd has bought Perth Airport operators ACS Aviation Ltd in a deal which will see their combined turnover soar to around £3.5m.

Over the last six years Cloud Global Ltd has built a market leading position in the provision of recruitment for the aviation industry, aircraft leasing and aviation support.

The company now has an international client base that includes 20 airlines across four continents.

It is now taking over ACS, which was formed in 2007 and provides both private and commercial pilot training facilities in addition to engineering and maintenance services for private and commercial operators.

The deal will see Cloud Global utilise ACS’ expertise to maintain its existing fleet of 10 aircraft and will also provide opportunities to expand the current fleet over the longer term.

The purchase of ACS will also see the combined operation’s workforce expand to 20 with the addition of the 16-strong team from ACS.

Current ACS managing director Allan Falconer will be leaving the business to pursue other commercial opportunities, with Cloud Global director Graeme Frater taking on the position of ACS MD.

Commenting on the deal Mr Frater said: “This is a very positive development for both businesses. We had been looking for an opportunity to expand and it was clear from our previous dealings with ACS that the company provided a very good fit with our business model.

“Our strategy of developing various divisions has proven very successful and this deal will allow us to explore new opportunities to add to our client list which includes such prestigious names as Emirates, Etihad Airways, Apollo Aviation Group and IAS Medical Ltd.

“There is a very high skilled team operating at ACS and we look forward to working with them to take the business forward.

“Although we will look to share information and skills, there are no plans to lose the company name or relocate any aspects of the business.”

Graeme Frater is the new managing director of ACS Aviation Ltd, based at Perth Airport
