Festive cheer in aid of good cause
Christmas trees on sale
A Perth-based charity has teamed-up with a local woodland management firm to sell Christmas trees in a bid to boost its coffers.
Giraffe was set up to help young people on the autistic spectrum, those with learning difficulties or suffering from mental ill health.
And, to boost its funds and support more people, trees will be sold throughout December on Giraffe’s site on the Fair City’s St Catherine’s Road – beside Raad’s Garage – and, with support from the Gannochy Trust, at Quarrymill Woodland Park on Isla Road.
Local forestry managers RTS Woodland Management, based in Crieff, have grown and will sell the trees on behalf of Giraffe.
Gareth Ruddock, the charity’s chief executive officer, said: “This is a great example of a fantastic local business working hard to support a worthy charity.
“We will be able to raise sorelyneeded funds for our organisation while supporting another local business”.
RTS director Norman O’Neill said: “We are very pleased to be able to be in partnership with such an enterprising organisation.
“Giraffe helps so many young people every year, it’s a privilege to be able to help in whatever way we can.”
Customers can buy trees ranging from four to 10 feet in height.
There are also goodie bags for children, handmade Christmas wreaths and hot drinks up for grabs.
As well as selling trees, Giraffe operate two social enterprise cafés on Mill Street and South Street in Perth which offer employability opportunities to their clients.
It also manages the walled garden at Upper Springland, which offers therapeutic work experience and socialisation.
