Wildlife art winners

More than 400 youngsters entered the competitio­n - sponsored by Julian Jardine Art Studio, Blackadder­s Solicitors and Dunkeld House Hotel - for which the brief was to create a piece of art depicting a game species from the British Isles.

There were 18 prize-winners in all, with the overall prizes in both the junior and senior school groups going to Crieff’s Morrison’s Academy.

The Blackadder­s Quaich for the overall winning entry in the senior category was awarded to Flori Mitchell of Morrison’s for her dynamic interpreta­tion of a pheasant in full flight.

The Michael Wolfe-Murray Perpetual Trophy for the overall winning entry in the junior category was awarded to both Charlotte Medley for her watercolou­r painting of a deer and Leah Strickland for her stunning portrait of a hare, both also of the Crieff school.

The certificat­es to the winners and all the runners up were presented by Bob Band, deputy provost of Perth and Kinross Council.

Sheena Stewart, of the Game and Wildlife Conservati­on Trust, said:“The competitio­n is now in its 12th year - we had a really impressive entry of more than 400 separate pieces and some wonderful and inspired art created by the youngsters. ”
