Panto fun gets going

- Melanie Bonn

Who’s afraid of Queen Rat and her evil plan for Perth?

Not us at the PA, oh no! Not when you have the talented and resourceful Dick McWhittington ready to rescue the city and the sweet-making industry to boot.

On Saturday the 2016 Perth Panto ‘Dick McWhittington’ opened at Perth Concert Hall, ushering in the festive season tradition of Christmas family entertainment with plenty of bangs, clangs and confetti.

As shops close and bridges are toppling, there’s got to be hope for Perth. Senga McScruff (Barrie Hunter) and Sandy McScruff (Harry Ward) worry that their tasty treat business is starting to look rocky.

The pair get some help from fame-seeking Dick himself (John Winchester) and a crusade to

Barrie Hunter as Senga McScruff save the candy begins as Queen Rat and her wicked plan is exposed on the high seas.

Look out for the essential cat, the Fairy Maid of Perth, Stanley Mills and his daughter Melody.

Book a date for the panto at www.horsecross.co.uk and enjoy the local laughs, fantastic costumes and clever sets, not to mention the singing talent of the young cast who give their all in this comic caper for Christmas. Harry Ward (Sandy McScruff ), John Winchester (Dick McWhittington) and Barrie Hunter (Senga McScruff ) Eleanor Griffiths as Queen Rat delighted the opening night audience on Saturday Eleanor Griffiths and John Winchester in full flow
