Perth event paves the way for PhilTaylor visit

- Matthew Gallagher

The Perth Gary Anderson and James Wade darts exhibition evening was hailed a success now there is more good news for fans of the sport.

Sixteen-time world champion Phil Taylor is pencilled in to make an appearance in the Fair City on Saturday, May 13.

Tickets for the bash, which will again take place at Dewars Centre, are already being snapped up with standard and VIP options available.

Organiser Barry Leitham believes bringing theses worldwide names to Perth can only be good for the city.

He said: “Phil Taylor on Saturday, May 13 is next up. Almost half of the VIP tickets are gone already and they only went on sale last week. I think we can expect more of the same at Dewars that night.

“The man is an absolute legend. A 16 time world champion being brought to the city can only be good for everyone.

“We like to think we are helping in our own little way to raise the profile of Perth.

“For too long a lot of big names seem to pass us by. It’s great to see so much

happening all over the city now.”

The Anderson and Wade exhibition took place on Thursday of last week and brought in a crowd of over 400.

“Thursday was a very successful night,” Leitham said. “Over 400 people turned up, which is a fantastic amount for a Thursday night.

“People turned up early and the place was jumping, just like you see on the television. One walk on in particular stands out, ‘Sweet Caroline,’ which had everyone out their seat singing and clapping along.

“The response for our Foodbank appeal went phenomenally well too. We thank everyone who donated.

“Gary and James were great guys. Anyone wanting anything signed or any selfies taken was no problem at all to them. Both played some great stuff and kept us entertained.

“It was great to get them for their final warm up before the World Championships. We have our fingers crossed we are a good omen for Gary again, not that we have our favourites!”

For the Phil Taylor event, VIP tickets are available from info@charge-itscotland.com or by phoning the box office on 01738 449271. Standard tickets available from Dewars reception.
