Take a seat and get theatre tour

- Johnathon Menzies

Fans of the arts who give the gift of a theatre seat this Christmas will themselves receive a present in the form of a tour of the ongoing restoration and redevelopment work at Perth Theatre.

Anyone who contacts Horsecross Arts, the charity which oversees the running of Perth Concert Hall and the city’s theatre, to dedicate either a Studio Theatre seat (from £250) or an auditorium seat (from £400) before December 31 will be able to book two spaces on a site tour in the new year.

Perth panto’s Fairy Maid of Perth, AmyBeth Littlejohn — who stars in Dick McWhittington at Perth Concert Hall until December 26 — donned a hard hat and high-vis jacket on Tuesday this week to highlight the festive offer from the Transform Perth Theatre team.

Dedicating a seat with a personallyengraved plaque is just one of the many fundraising options on offer AmyBeth Littlejohn with workers on site at Perth Theatre

as Horsecross Arts works to raise the final £1.5million to fully kit out the restored and redeveloped Perth Theatre when it reopens in late 2017.

The creative organisation behind Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre already has pledges of £15.1m towards the £16.6m transformation from project partners Perth and Kinross Council, Creative Scotland, The Gannochy Trust, the Heritage AmyBeth Littlejohn, who plays the Fairy Maid of Perth in the Fair City’s pantomime Dick McWhittington

Lottery Fund, other trusts and foundations, individual donations and other supporters and funding bodies.
