Oh Christmas tree...

-

A Kinross-shire community has kicked off the festive season in high spirits with the help of £2,500 worth of donations.

People in Milnathort recently got together to sing carols under a new Christmas tree which was paid for by Scottish Water and aBV.

It follows major sewer works in the town in the last twelve months which Steven Young of Milnathort Community Council says were an“inconvenience”but managed well.

“We got good communication at every stage,”he said.“Every time the roadworks were changed, people had the clear understanding of what it was going to be and even the odd apology if it was going to overrun.

“I would say when the communication is good it tends to override any grumps.”

As well as a £500 donation to pay for the Christmas tree, lights and a laser to light up the Town Hall, Scottish Water and ABV also handed an additional £2000 to ‘Milnathort in Bloom”to help replace trees and flowerbeds that had to be removed to carry out the sewer works.

‘Milnathort in Bloom’chair Theresa Stirling said:“We’re so pleased that we could work with Scottish Water to get the funds to refurbish the Cross, so it’s absolutely brilliant.”

Scottish Water’s regional communities manager Clive Duncan:“We are pleased to see that after our extensive project was completed we were able to leave a positive legacy for the people of the town.”
