Perth athletes sprint into the festive spirit

Christmas run takes over championsh­ip schedule

Championsh­ip racing took a back seat for Perth Road Runners this week as club members got into the festive spirit.

The annual club Christmas run was the star attraction with an out and back route set to Loch Ordie in Dunkeld.

A number of members completed the full route around the loch, around 11-miles long, while others enjoyed a more relaxing six miles in total.

Robin Wombill used the event as an opportunit­y to complete his Virtual Elf 10k run in aid of Meningitis research.

Elsewhere, Caroline Ness travelled to Callander to compete in the second race of the Trossachs Night trail series, where each race is between five and six miles in length.

Caroline finished in 63:17, despite injuring her ankle three miles into the race.

At the North Inch on Saturday, 24 green vests lined up for Perth Parkrun. Caroline Jones was first female road runner and second overall in 21:05.

Perth members before setting off at Loch Ordie Stuart Fraser was the first male club Glasgow and finished 30th out of member home, finishing in 15th place 356 runners at Pollok Parkrun in with 20:31. 20:26.
