Students unite to help with good causes
Perth College UHI students have run a number of events recently to help local groups as part of their coursework.
One of the groups the college’s NC Administration students chose to support was Perth and Kinross Council’s @Scott Street.
They raised £145 for the youth support service that was used to buy groceries and toiletries for young people who had contacted the group seeking help.
The NC students also bought gift cards which were distributed to youngsters using the service so they could buy food for themselves.
They also collected cash for Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society (PADS), raising £116.
PADS representative Joanna High went along to the college with dogs Lucy and Eddie to pick up a cheque for the amount as well as other donations collected by HNC Administration and Information Technology students.
Finally, a raffle and tombola were held in the college to raise £388 for Perthshire Young Carers.
Lecturer Isla Kinnear said:“The students start on this unit at the
Perth College UHI NC Administration students with a PADS representative and dogs Lucy and Eddie. beginning of the year when they’ve only just met their fellow students.
“It is a real journey for them getting to know each other, working together and using their administration, organisation and creative skills to put on an event.
“I am very proud of the work that they have done and the support that they have been able to give to local organisations this year.”
