Luncarty recorda friendly victory

-

Luncarty manager Jon Kelly says his players will take confidence from their winter break friendly win against Jeanfield Swifts.

The Bleachers ran out 2-1 winners in an exciting encounter in difficult playing conditions at Letham’s Seven Acres all-weather pitch.

Swifts took the lead when Stevie McManus fired home a free-kick from 25-yards. But Bleachers player/boss Kelly slammed his side back level 10 minutes later.

The winner came early in the second half from Luncarty and it was Richard Donovan on loan from Jeanfield - who scored the decisive goal.

“The game against Jeanfield was a good workout for the players we had available,” Kelly told the Perthshire Advertiser.

“I thought at times we played some really good football too, which is pleasing for me. I would not look into the result too much though as both teams were down to the bare bones.

“But our players who did play can take confidence in how they played at times against a team who are a couple of leagues above us.”

Meanwhile, Blairgowrie were also in friendly action and ran out comfortable winners against amateur side Balmoral United.

Competitive action returns after the break this weekend. Pick up a copy of Friday’s Perthshire Advertiser for a full preview of all the games.
