Loan deal for Gordon and Comrie
Liam Gordon Promising St Johnstone defenders Liam Gordon and Aaron Comrie have joined Peterhead on loan until the end of the season.
And it’s a move to a Scottish League One side which managerTommyWright believes will benefit the pair in the long run.
Gordon (20) and Comrie (19) have both had first team experience in Perth.
Wright said:“Liam Gordon and Aaron Comrie have gone on loan to Peterhead. Aaron is available for today’s game (Monday) and Liam will be available for the weekend.
“They have both been on the fringes of the first team this season but now we have Keith Watson back fit and Ally Gilchrist is also back.
“So it’s more beneficial for them to go out and get game time in League One through to the end of the season.
“It will be a good experience for them and something that will benefit them in the longer term.
“Going forward they are both very much in my plans. I have high hopes for them both.
“Aaron is an out and out right back. He is quick, he’s a good one on one defender and he uses the ball well.
“Liam is strong, athletic and a good talker as well.”
The Scottish Premiership winter break has commenced and Perth players have a week
off before returning to their normal training regime.
“The plan is that the players will have a week off,” Wright said.“Most clubs are doing something similar.
“Unfortunately we won’t be going away anywhere. We’d have liked to head for a different environment but it will be training as normal up to the cup tie with Stenhousemuir.”
There was disappointment in the Saints camp following the 3-0 weekend loss away at Dundee. Wright reckons the final ball was missing.
He told the PA:“We got into good areas but our final pass and decision-making let us down. And we know we could do better with every one of their goals.
“That was the most disappointing thing, particularly the second and third goals.
“Obviously it was disappointing to lose the derby. It was a game which backed up my previous comments about possession statistics.
“We had the vast majority of possession against Dundee and previously against Motherwell and ended up with only one point from those matches.”
