Man breached order with outburst

-

A Perth man stamped on a computer and smashed a photo frame during a “shouting match” with his then partner.

Thirty-year-old William Mackie, of High Street, had originally been given a community payback order – an alternative to a jail sentence – when he originally appeared at Perth Sheriff Court in May, 2015.

But that had been breached – and he was given a total of nine months behind bars when he appeared in the dock on Wednesday.

He admitted that on March 20, 2015, at a house in the Fair City’s Drumhar Court, he repeatedly shouted at then partner and then damaged the household items.

Part of the charge which alleged that he struck a door with his hand and attempted to burn photographs was deleted.

Depute fiscal Craig Donald said the accused “became angry” when he returned to his partner’s flat and an argument started.

“That resulted in a shouting match between both parties.

“It was loud enough for others to hear and the police were contacted.”

Officers were allowed entry to the house and they noted that the woman was “upset.”

There was damage to the property, including a computer and photo frame.

Solicitor Paul Ralph told the court: “The couple are now separated.”

Sheriff Gillian Wade revoked the community payback order and imposed a four-month prison sentence on the original charge.

Noting that “numerous attempts” had been made to get him back on track, she imposed an additional five months for flouting the order.

The nine months behind bars were backdated to December 5, when Mackie was remanded.
