Swifts set to host dinner

Jeanfield Swifts Girls and Ladies FC are hosting a star-studded Sportswoma­n’s Dinner to raise funds for the club.

The event, which will see guest speeches from the likes of Stuart Cosgrove and Scotland coach Anna Signeul, takes place at Dewar’s Centre on Friday March 17.

Tickets for the event - with a smart casual dress code - are priced at £35 and money raised will enable the club to buy new kit and equipment and invest in the developmen­t of players, coaches and managers.

Born and brought up in Letham, and educated at Perth Academy, Stuart Cosgrove is one of St Johnstone’s famous fans.

He’s best known as the co-host of BBC Radio Scotland’s comedy football phone-in‘Off the Ball’and as the co-host of BBC Scotland’s Saturday football Sportscene results show.

Anna Signeul is a Swedish former football player who has been the national coach of the Scotland women’s team since March 2005.

In addition to her position as National Coach, Signeul also has a wider remit in charge of developing the women’s game at all levels in Scotland.

Guest speakers also include media manager and writer Ed Hodge and stand-up Susie McCabe.

There will also be a raffle and auction and the club would be delighted to receive any donations. They also welcome parties interested in sponsoring the event and tables.
