The trial of two men, accused of ramming another man’s car in a Perth supermarket car park - and then attacking him with a metal bar - has been delayed until the end of the month.

Thirty-three-year-old Michal Lakota and Przemek Sikorski (28) were to have faced trial before a jury last week.

But it has been rescheduled for a jury sitting which opens on January 30.

An earlier hearing was fixed for January 24 but both have been excused from attending that day.

It is alleged that on February 10, 2016, at Tesco Stores, Crieff Road, Perth, they both assaulted Lucasz Krajewski by driving a car into his vehicle.

The pair are then said to have chased him, knocked him to the ground, repeatedly kicked and punched him on the head and body and repeatedly struck him on the head and body with a metal bar.

Mr Lakota, described as a prisoner at Perth, is said to have been subject to three bail orders at the time - two from the sheriff court and one from the Perth JP Court.

Lakota and Sikorski, formerly of Ballantine Place, Perth, and now Crow Road, Glasgow, also faced a second charge.

They are accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at Pentland Landrover, Dunkeld Road, Perth, on February 10 last year by shouting and swearing and acting in an aggressive manner.

Lawyers Paul Ralph, for Mr Lakota, and Pauline Cullerton, for Mr Sikorski, had opposed the delay but Sheriff William Wood said the “interests of justice, as a whole” would be best served by fixing a new trial date.

He added: “I am satisfied the motion for adjournment should be granted,” he added.
