Donations add up for SCAA

-

A mother was able to travel with her ill daughter when SCAA was called to Rothesay on the isle of Bute to airlift the young patient to hospital on the mainland.

SCAA paramedics cared for the girl on the rapid journey to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where the aircraft landed on the rooftop helipad.

The aircraft was already at Clyde Heliport when the emergency call came in, allowing them to reach Rothesay quickly and make the journey to hospital in just minutes compared to a potential road and ferry journey of over two hours.

SCAA also responded to an emergency at Lochgilphead this week and then was redirected onwards to a time-critical incident on the Isle of Arran. The charity helicopter stopped on route at Glasgow to collect a specialist doctor and nurse and fly them rapidly to the island to treat the injured patient.

Local donors and fundraisers have been extremely busy in the past week, handing in much-needed funds to the country’s only charity funded air ambulance.

Perth-based Balhousie Care Group – which has supported the charity from day one – made its regular monthly donation of £833, bringing its total support to a fantastic £49,000.

Branston Ltd., based at Abernethy, handed in a cheque for £3,466.66 raised through a variety of staff fundraising events last year, including a sponsored cycle.

And thanks also to Crieff Highland Gathering Ltd which has donated £500 from its event last year, where SCAA took part in the opening parade.

Errol Church held a collection for SCAA at their carol singing and primary school Christmas services, raising £324.58. And Craigie and Moncrieffe Church Guild has donated £60 to the airborne charity.
