Teenager fined £200 for attack on another woman in park

-

A Perth teenager who violently attacked another woman in a local park was fined £200 when she appeared for sentence at the Sheriff Court this week.

Eighteen-year-old Margaret Davies-Williamson, of Rannoch Road, had earlier been ordered to take part in the Right Track programme, designed to keep troubled teenagers on the straight and narrow.

She admitted that on October 13 last year, at the South Inch, Perth, she repeatedly punched the 17-year-old on the head, to her injury.

Solicitor David Holmes described a background report on the accused as “heartening.”

He added: “She’s a person of promise and is determined to do well.”

He added: “At the time of the offence she was approaching her 17th birthday.”

Sheriff William Wood said he was encouraged at the progress she had made on Right Track.

“This is something of a blip - but a significant blip, punching someone on the head to their injury.”

She was allowed to pay the fine at £20 a month.

A 24-year-old man who breached a bail order banning him from contacting his mother was remanded when he appeared from custody at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday.

Patrick Philbin, of Burns Beg, Kinross, had his sentence deferred until February 22 when he has another case calling.

A background report had been ordered for that matter.

The court heard he had been freed on bail on January 23 with a special condition imposed banning him from Green Road, Kinross, or approaching or getting in touch with his mum.

But he repeatedly went into the street and went to his mum’s address before knocking on the door and shouting at her.

Solicitor Rosie Scott said his mum had been in touch explaining that her son “needed help.”

He had recently spent time in hospital and was awaiting a methadone prescription.

Sheriff Lindsay deferred sentence meantime until later this month.

But he told Philbin: “Unfortunately you are going to be kept in custody.”

Special bail conditions were imposed on a Perth man when he appeared from custody this week, charged with attacking his partner.

Twenty-seven-year-old Kevin Bowman, of McDonald Court, has been banned from Nimmo Place or contacting the woman in any way.

It is alleged that on February 3, at a house in Nimmo Place, he grabbed her by the throat.

The following day, he is accused of again grabbing her by the throat, punching and kicking her to the head and striking her head against an object.

He will appear for trial at Perth Sheriff Court on April 24, with an earlier hearing on April 6.
