Home form is no issue for Coupar boss Logan

Perthshire derby at Foxhall expected to be a thriller

- Matthew Gallagher

Coupar Angus gaffer Logan McConachie insists there is no hoodoo at Foxhall Park.

The East Perthshire squad, whose fine recent form has hoisted them to mid-table in the North Division, are still to record a win at home this season.

McConachie hopes to put that right when rivals Scone Thistle visit this weekend and he said: “It’s never been something we’ve been to concerned about to be honest.

“We’ve been pretty unfortunate on a couple of occasions not to take home all three points. I don’t think it bothers our squad where we play.

“We’ve had a lot of away games on the bounce and it just so happens to coincide with our turn of form, there’s no hoodoo at Foxhall.”

The form of Scone has impressed McConachie. But he knows his side, too, are full of confidence.

“Scone have had a good season and picked up some good points in games where they would have struggled before,” he told the Perthshire Advertiser.

“Our boys are looking forward to going up against them and we’ll firmly be focused on going for the win. We’re all keen to continue our good run and climb the table.

“Hopefully the weather will Coupar will need to be wary of Scone’s Sean Whitworth (right)

be fair and we get two teams attacking each other for 90 minutes. Everyone at our club is looking forward to it.”

JEANFIELD SWIFTS

Jeanfield Swifts manager Ross Gunnion hopes his side’s attacking prowess can come to the fore away at Bo’ness this weekend.

Falkirk-based Bo’ness currently sit fourth from top in the Super

League but the Perth squad are determined to spring a shock and return with three points.

And they will be boosted with news that Scott Mollison, Fraser Smith and Daniel Kelly are all available for the game. However, Lee Deans and Mark Duigan miss out.

“A tough trip away to Bo’ness is something which I personally will relish,” Gunnion told the Perthshire Advertiser.

“We’ll look to ensure we make ourselves hard to beat but focus on utilising the undoubted quality we have in our attacking play.

“If we can strike that balance we’ll be in with a chance of taking something from the game.”

KINNOULL

Kinnoull manager Alan Cameron will face a selection dilemma this weekend as a full squad prepares for the visit of Lochore Welfare.

The Tulloch Park side returned to winning ways last Saturday and now sights are set on continuing that form against a team who sit rooted to the bottom of the North Division.

“For the first time in a while we have a full squad available for this weekend’s visit of Lochore Welfare,” said boss Cameron.

“Competition for places is the toughest it has been so there has been an extra edge to our recent training sessions which all bodes well for a Saturday.

“We will approach Saturday’s game the exact same as we would approach any other in this league and will have to be at our very best to ensure we keep the three points in Perth come Saturday evening.

“Hopefully we can take confidence from our start and overall performance against Brechin last Saturday because anything less than that and Lochore will make life very difficult for us.”

LUNCARTY

Luncarty boss Jon Kelly is determined to keep the momentum flowing at the club.

The Bleachers face East Craigie on Saturday afternoon ahead of next week’s high-profile Scottish Junior Cup clash against Auchinleck Talbot.

But the focus is fully on their Dundee visitors and Kelly said: “The squad has trained hard this week as we know we are in for a very tough game on Saturday.

“We have played East Craigie already this season and we know what to expect. They are a very hard working team so we will need to be at it from the word go.

“We have 22 fit players ready to go for the first time this season so it’s going to be a very hard selection for us.

“But this is something I certainly am not complaining about.

“I am hopeful we can build some sort of momentum but I know East Craigie will make this tough.”

BLAIRGOWRIE

Blairgowrie welcome Thornton Hibs to Davie Park this weekend as the promotion chase in the North Division intensifies.

It’s a finely poised clash with both teams sitting on the same points in the current standings. Blair boss Billy Mackay expects his squad to be on their usual lines.
