Asda staff donate £1500 to CATH
Employees at Perth’s Asda store raised more than £1500 for local charity Churches Action for the Homeless (CATH) during a successful awareness-raising event.
Eight members of staff from the Dunkeld Road store were among those to spend a night on the street during last November’s ‘Big Sleep Out.’
The event, held in the heart of the Fair City, was planned to raise awareness of homelessness in the area, and raise vital funds for the charity.
It was the first time that CATH had held such an event, which attracted in excess of 60 participants in total.
The charity has been helping Perth’s homeless population since 1991 and now support the community through a hostel, charity shop and day centre.
Anna Jellye, community champion for the Asda Perth store, said: “We hoped to raise £500 between us as it is the first time we have done something like this.
