Yellow lines cause folk to see red

Dear Editor

-

Regarding double yellow lining of the bottom of Needless Road, Perth - a big thumbs down to councillors Wilson, Band, Munro and Perth and Kinross Council roads department for implementing the yellow lining of this area.

Despite residents’ opposition to this unwanted measure, the lack of available parking was already an issue prior to this happening.

Resident parking has been in place there for many years without any issue or incident, all that was needed to maintain on street parking was a tweak of the road layout at this area to maintain resident parking. All this has served to do is force residents to park further up Needless Road and neighbouring streets causing congestion and road safety issues there.

I do believe the powers that be haven’t appreciated the knock on effects of their actions to the community - no compromise no leeway. It’s the residents who will suffer the consequences with no thought from those involved in implementing this needless action despite the residents petitioning against this.

We the residents will continue to fight this for ourselves and the wider community who will suffer from the knock on effects.

We have already encountered traffic flow issues with the bottleneck effect from forcing motorists to park their cars on either side of Needless Road beyond Raeburn park.

The council has managed to take what was really only a minor issue and turn it into a major headache for nearby neighbours and motorists. D MacDonald Glover Street Perth
