Prizes for school pupils at Burns fest

A full house witnessed many excellent renditions in the Fair City’s AK Bell Library Soutar Theatre during the event, held on February 12.

Prize-winners were as follows: singing (classes one and two) Chloe MacDonald, Murthly Primary School; singing (classes three and four) - Holly Jarvis, Dunblane Centre; accordion (class nine) - not contested; accordion (class 10) - Alice Girling, Kinross High School; fiddle (class 11) - Erin Wylie, Craigie Primary School; fiddle (class 12) - Ellen Pennie, Dunblane Centre; verse (class five) - Mia Curran, Dunblane Centre; verse (class six) - Eilidh Donnachie, Abernethy Primary School; verse (class seven) - Ben Morrison, Strathalla­n School; verse (class eight) - Ellen Pennie, Dunblane Centre; Soutar Unicorn - Morgan Patterson, Strathalla­n School; president’s prize - Eilidh Donnachie, Abernethy Primary School.

Meanwhile, Perth Burns Club’s next meeting takes place from 7.30pm next Tuesday at the city’s Salutation Hotel.

In a nod to Burns’famous work Tam o’Shanter, it takes the form of a“nicht o’sangs‘n’clatter”and features a cast of members and guests in ceilidh format.

All are welcome to perform a turn at what organisers promise will be a relaxed and convivial evening.
