Two in court after church vandalism

Incident update Last week, I reported that Blackford Parish Church had been targeted by vandals and extensive damage had been caused.

As a result of further enquiries, a 33-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman were traced in the north of Scotland and appeared in court for the damage to the church and for stealing a number of items from within. They have been remanded in custody.

Local crimes Two rams died as a result of sheep worrying by dogs near the Vane Farm RSPB nature reserve near Balado between Friday, February 10, and the following day.

Similarly, there has been a report of sheep worrying on a farm near Alyth whereby two spaniel-type dogs were seen to be attacking sheep in the early afternoon on Tuesday, February 14 (CR/3995/17).

A dog attacking, chasing or even being at large in a field where sheep are kept can lead to significan­t injury and often leads to the sheep being killed or destroyed.

These attacks have a financial and emotional impact on the farmer and can cause immense suffering to the animals and are avoidable if dogs are properly controlled.

Two panes of glass were smashed at a property in Mill Street, Kinross, at 4.20am on Saturday, February 11 (CR/3696/17).

Between 6.30pm on Tuesday, February 7, and 10am on Friday, February 10, a trailer and contents were stolen from a driveway at a property in The Ross, Comrie (CR/3793/17).

A Fiat Ducato motor home registered number H493CFT was stolen from a lay-by at Inver, Dunkeld, between 6.45am and 10.30am on Monday, There have been several reports of sheep worrying in the local area

Police are looking to trace two men who attended at a property in Hermitage Drive, Perth, about 1pm on Wednesday, February 8, on the pretence of carrying out roof repairs.

The men obtained a sum of money from the occupant and left without completing any work.

The men are described as aged 4050 years old, 5’8 and 5’9 tall, both with dark brown hair and medium build (CR/3528/17).

Between Thursday, February 2, and the following Saturday a large quantity of centre caps for allow wheels on Audi motor cars were removed and stolen from Cameron Audi, Dunkeld Road, Perth (CR/3797/17).

Between 7am and 1.30pm on Friday, February 10, an outbuildin­g at 13 Marshall Mews, Perth, was broken into and petrol hedge trimmers and food items were stolen.

On the same date it was discovered that a shed had also been broken into

at Marshall Place, Perth, and electric drills and chargers were stolen (CR/3633/17 and CR/3703/17).

Overnight on Wednesday, February 8, a Ford Ka motor car and a Ford Fiesta ST motor car had tyres damaged whilst parked in Menzies Court, Perth (CR/3635/17 and CR/3636/17).

Between 9am and 12.30pm on Monday, February 13, a grey Land Rover Discovery parked at Viewlands Primary School, Perth, had the rear windscreen broken (CR/3864/17).

Two teenage males were responsibl­e for throwing an object at a passing vehicle near Main Street, Invergowri­e, at about 4.45pm on Monday, February 13, causing damage to the vehicle (CR/3935/17).
