Crieff spring concert to celebrate Mozart

Crieff Choral will be on stage later this month Crieff Choral Group will mark the beginning of British Summer Time with a performanc­e celebratin­g the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at a concert on Sunday, March 26.

The spring concert‘In Praise of Mozart’held at Crieff Parish Church will feature soloists who have all sung with leading opera companies, including Colleen Nicoll (soprano), Laura Margaret Smith (mezzosopra­no), Ted Black (tenor) and Jonathan Sedgwick (bass).

The choir and soloists will be accompanie­d by the City of Perth Sinfonia.

The concert will feature pieces including the popular‘Ave Verum Corpus’, a Eucharisti­c hymn dating from the 14th Century and attributed to Pope Innocent VI and the Coronation Mass in C major, a Missa brevis, written in 1779 when Mozart was court organist and composer at Salzburg Cathedral.

Crieff Choral Group chairman, John Drummond, said:“. We’re all very much looking forward to an evening of Mozart, with four superb soloists, the City of Perth Sinfonia and conducted by Peter Rutterford and hope that as many people as possible can join us.”
