Habitat restoration aims
A Grandtully-based trust which looks after a Highland Perthshire beauty spot will hold its AGM on Saturday.
Highland Perthshire Communities Land Trust (HPCLT) was set up in 2002 following the purchase on behalf of the community of 418 hectares of land centred on the small hills of Dun Coillich (572m) and Dun Beag (403m), between Glen Goulandie and Schiehallion – now referred to simply as Dun Coillich.
HPCLT’s overall aim is to create an environment to benefit both wildlife and the well-being of Highland Perthshire residents and visitors.
This will be achieved through the restoration of a healthy ecosystem, which includes the planting of native trees.
The group’s AGM will be held from 2pm on March 25 in Grandtully Hall.
The AGM will be quite short, and there will be a talk by Jon Hollingdale, chief executive officer of the Community Woodlands Association, illustrating the diversity of community woodlands and the various activities the woodlands support.
There will also be light
Dun Coillich, between Glen Goulandie and Schiehallion in Highland Perthshire refreshments, displays illustrating some of the exciting work being done by HPCLT and the chance to talk to some of the people actively involved.
A recent development has been the donation to HPCLT of a small field in Aberfeldy for use by the community. At this stage, there are no firm views about how the land might be used.
A spokesperson said: “This is another reason for coming along to the AGM – to find out more and give us your ideas.”
