Caught with heroin in city centre street
A Perth man, caught with £40 worth of heroin in a city street, was fined £320 when he appeared at the Sheriff Court.
Thirty-eight-year-old George Stephen, of Drummond Crescent, was stopped by two police officers in Marshall Place on November 2 last year.
When he was searched, 0.4 grammes of the Class A drug were seized.
Solicitor David Holmes conceded that his client has a“considerable record.”
He had been given the drug a couple of days previously by another unnamed person.
Stephen was now on a methadone prescription, added the lawyer.
The accused, who admitted having the drug, was allowed to pay the fine at £30 a month.
And a not guilty plea was accepted to a second charge of being in possession of cocaine.
