A time capsule design created by a Perthshire teenager is to go on permanent display in the grounds of Dundee’s V&A museum.
Auchterarder’s Luisa Geddes won a competition to design a capsule to celebrate the opening of the City of Discovery’s riverside museum.
The contest was open to all Scottish students studying Higher Design and Manufacture and was judged by an expert panel led by designers from Jaguar.
As part of her prize, the 17-year-old Community School of Auchterarder pupil will have the opportunity for a week-long work placement at Jaguar in Coventry, where staff will bring her time capsule design to life.
Luisa said: “It’s amazing, I can’t quite believe it. I wanted to design something the public could interact with in the day and night.
“I’m so excited to see how my design will be manufactured by Jaguar, and to spend a week with Jaguar, to see all the cars and how they work.”
The judging panel was chaired by Jaguar’s director of design Ian Callum.
He said: “What struck us all about Luisa was her sense of professional presentation and clarity in explanation.
“She had a clear understanding of what she was trying to do, and the message she was trying to create in the sculpture she’d designed.
“I have no doubt whatsoever that the end result would be appealing to us as a team of judges, and also to the public.
“The overall standard of the pupil’s submissions was extremely high.
“That made judging very difficult and it took us a long time to get down to the final decision.”
Luisa’s winning time capsule will now be filled by local primary school pupils. Luisa Geddes with Jaguar’s Ian Callum
