These vibrant hyacinths captured people’s attention The Royal Horticultural Society of Perthshire held a very successful annual Spring Flower Show on Saturday in The Institute, Bridge of Earn.
The hall was bursting with colour and perfume from a wide range of colourful exhibits.
Organisers said there was an increased number of entries from the cut flower section, floral art and Flower Power with the society welcoming some new entrants to the show world.
Judges commented on the quality of exhibits in the cut flower and floral art sections in particular.
Congratulations also went to the Perth Flower Club which held its own classes and added greatly to the hall displays. handiwork Support from the Guiding community in their various classes added to a very successful event.
Major winners for the day were: Bulbs and Plants - Buchan Trophy for most points in Classes 1-40: Bruce McLeod, Meigle. Mrs J Buchan Trophy for Best Exhibit in Section - Stewart Duncan, Perth. Scamp Voucher for Best Cut Daffodil Bloom - Susan Eisner, Woodside. R Duncan Trophy for best Clivia in Show - Ian Mollison, Blairgowrie. Meredith Campbell Vase for Best Cut Daffodil- Ian Baird, Logiemalmond.
Perthshire Citizens’ Classes Centenary Medal for most points in section: Ian Mollison, Blairgowrie.
Floral Art Section - Mrs G B Keay trophy for most points in Open Section - Steve Ludlam, Broughty Ferry. Island Gardens Challenge Trophy for Best Exhibit in Novice Section: Elspeth Bruce, Forgandenny.
Rosettes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in class - Section A P Aird and Section B K Aird. Junior Section -Gavin Catto Cup –Most points Section A: Poppy Aird, Scone. RW Donachy Trophy –Most points Section B: Kyle Aird, Scone. Girlguiding section - Rainbows, Myra Lush Trophy: Longforgan. Brownies, JJ Murray Trophy 1st Almondbank. Guides - Royal Bank of Scotland Trophy – 4th Perth. Best Exhibit in Rainbows - Abbie Morgan. Best exhibit in Brownies - Georgie Simpson. Best Exhibit in Guides- Lucy Fraser.
