Shire battle to net vital league win

-

Perthshire men’s first team kept their top of the league position in the MNL Division Three following a 3-2 win against Highland.

The visitors were two ahead midway through the first half. Shire would pull one back from a short corner as half-time approached.

That momentum was carried into the second period and Perth netted a leveller before securing victory with a penalty stroke 10 minutes from time.

A Czub (2) and M Robertson were on target for Shire.

Meanwhile, It was a third successive win for Perthshire men’s second team at the weekend, defeating Madras men’s first team 3-1.

Shire’s dominance in the opening 20 minutes was rewarded when Fleming put away the resultant penalty flick.

However, Madras would retaliate shortly after with a goal from a quick counter attacking move.

With the scores level an impressive solo dribble from Sek restored the Perth lead. And then Fleming added another, with a penalty flick, to round off the triumph.

Perthshire ladies’second team recorded a 5-0 win over Blairgowrie.

The ladies’third squad taught Dundee University’s fourth team a harsh lesson by winning 9-0.
