Easton’s enjoying stint as captain

-

Brian Easton has been enjoying his stint as captain.

With Steven Anderson out injured the full-back has taken hold of the reins and helped guide the Perth squad to wins against Dundee and Motherwell.

Easton admits his team-mates like to have a laugh and jibe at the man selected to wear the armband. But it’s a role he knows is of great importance.

The 29-year-old was vocal in the final stages of Saturday’s Scottish Premiership clash in North Lanarkshire as Saints held on to secure victory.

He said:“You’d get the boys up for it whether you had the armband or not. We put so much into the game on Saturday and sometimes you just need a push on.

“For being captain, we all like to have a little joke about it. But I don’t mind because it’s just a temporary stand in.

“You need to expect a tight game when you play Motherwell. At the end we have a lead to hold on to and we’re one of the best teams in the league at doing that.

“We are buzzing with the 2-1 win and it puts us into fourth place. It’s been a great couple of weeks for us so we are all delighted.

“I knew Hearts were getting beaten 1-0 a little bit before we arrived at the stadium. But we found out afterwards and everyone was pleased with that.”

Easton heaped praise on midfielder Liam Craig who continues to produce the goods and scored a vital double at the weekend.

“I was gutted for Liam not getting a hat-trick,”Easton said. “I’d have loved to have seen another go in. But I’m sure he’ll take the brace and being the hero to get the three points.”
