Fighting on for young people
On Friday, March 17, I attended the vote count at Strathearn Community Campus for the Scottish Youth Parliament for the Perth area in which I unfortunately lost in my bid to be re-elected as the MSYP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire.
Although I have lost , I can look back and cherish my time as MSYP for Perthshire South over the past two years and also having represented Perthshire North for a year prior.
The Scottish Youth Parliament is amazing and the young people who I have worked with over the past two years have been amazing. From attending vote counts for elections in Scotland to being chosen as a local hero to attend the state opening of the Scottish Parliament, these are memories I will take with me.
Looking forward to the future after June – when the newly-elected MSYPs – take office, I will be working to be a local voice for young people on issues set forth in the plan which I announced on the campaign trail.
I will continue to correspond in the Perthshire Advertiser on issues affecting young people in Perth.
I will be working to ensure that the Perth and Kinross Youth Voice will be set up.
I intend to be there for the newly elected MSYPs as a support pillar and someone to talk to if they have any queries or enquiries.
I will be working with young people all over Scotland on issues not just affecting Perth but the whole of Scotland like youth unemployment , lack of youth activities, etc.
I hope to attend all events for young people as a youth representative and support the Perth 2021 City of Culture bid.
Ensuring that the MSYPs have the budget to attend all sittings is a big issue which I intend to carry on working for.
