A housekeeper flipped when her partner of 22 years returned from work and fell asleep on the sofa instead of eating the meal she had prepared for him.

But he got a rude awakening when she repeatedly punched him on the face in a drink-fuelled attack.

Thirty-nine-year-old Maria Horvath, of Kenmore Street, Aberfeldy, then threw several ornaments at him, one of which struck him on the left forearm.

She appeared from custody at Perth Sheriff Court to admit the assault on the man in their home on March 26.

Depute fiscal Tina Dickie said he had been at work from 9am-2pm and when he got home noticed that she was “under the influence of alcohol.”

She added:“He then fell asleep on the sofa in the living room.

“A short time later he was awakened by the accused punching him twice on the left side of his face.

“She was shouting at him and proceeded to pick up and throw several ornaments towards him.”

One of them struck his forearm, causing a minor cut.

When arrested by police, she said:“I regret this.”

Solicitor Steve Lafferty said the pair, who are from Hungary, both work in a local hotel.

She had been drinking that day but not to excess.”

She became“irritated”when he fell asleep instead of eating the food she had prepared.

Sheriff Michael Fletcher deferred sentence until July 26 to see if it was a “one-off incident.”

A first offender, Horvath was ordered to stay out of further trouble until then.
