ELECTION 2017 Candidates standing in council elections
They’re all hoping for your vote at the ballot box
Candidates for the forthcoming Perth and Kinross Council election were confirmed on Wednesday this week.
More than 80 people are vying for locals’ votes across the 12 council wards, with some interesting moves among them, including a growing number of independent candidates.
Former SNP councillor Elspeth Maclachlan is to stand as an independent in Perth City North, while former Conservative Alan Livingstone – who currently is among those representing Almond and Earn – has moved to stand as an independent in the Strathmore ward.
The Scottish Greens also have candidates in all but one of the wards.
A total of 40 places at Perth and Kinross Council will be up for grabs on Thursday, May 4.
Eligible voters aged 16 years or older will have the chance to choose.
