Drunk man went into wrong house
A Perth man was so drunk that he staggered into the wrong house shortly after 8am, wakening the 45-year-old tenant who was still in bed.
Sixty-two-year-old Peter Dunckley, who lived a few doors along, was told to get out of the flat.
But he stated: “This is my house,” to which the irate householder told him in no uncertain terms: “No - it’s my house.”
Colin Patterson then took the unwelcome visitor by the arm to escort him from the property.
Dunckley remained outside, still maintaining it was his flat.
And when he was corrected again, he punched Mr Patterson on the head, inflicting a small cut.
When he was later charged with assault, the accused maintained: “He deserved it. I let him have it.”
The drink-fuelled incident led to Dunckley, of 10a Stanley Crescent, being fined £600 at Perth Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
He was also ordered to pay the victim £200 in compensation.
He admitted the assault which took place at 13b Stanley Crescent, Perth, on September 2 last year.
Solicitor John McLaughlin said both flats had an identical lay-out.
The accused, who had been drinking, thought he was in his own property and Mr Patterson didn’t have any permission to be there.
“He’s not had a drink since the incident,” added the lawyer.
Dunckley will pay the penalties at £50 a month.
