High note as pupils win special awards

The Motely Crew Choir, comprising of pupils from Oakbank Primary and Perth High School, were winners of the Methven Trophy for an eighth consecutiv­e time at Perform in Perth Special awards were as follows:

Premier Percussion Co. Shield (most promising drum kit solo) - Lewis Dewar, Strathalla­n;

Premier Percussion Co Shield (most promising timpani solo) - Tom Cahalin, Perth Academy;

Wilkie’s Music Shield (most promising xylophone solo) - George Croudace, Kinross HS;

Wilkie’s Music Shield (most promising snare drum solo) - Tom Jackson, Muckhart;

Arthur Bell and Sons Trophy (best primary school choir in classes 53-61) - Craigclowa­n Junior Concert Choir;

Cup presented by the Music Industries Council (best individual, vocal classes) - Tasmin Glass, Kirriemuir;

John Ritchie Memorial Cup (best U18 performer in‘Songs from the Shows’Erin Bathgate, Kinross HS;

Joan and Stewart Tennant Quaich (best U18 vocal classes Nicol Halcrow, Perth HS;

Rose bowl presented by Mr and Mrs Gordon McFatridge (highest mark, 87 and over, in the advanced and open pianoforte classes -excluding Class 108) Members of Crieff High School’s string orchestra - Alexander Wallace, Glenalmond College;

Gold Medal presented in memory of Elspeth Stirling (highest mark, 87 or over, in advanced and open solo stringed instrument classes - Conrad Ihering, Glenalmond College;

Stuart McNab Memorial Trophy (highest mark, 87 and over, in advanced and open flute classes) - Lauren Horsburgh, Crieff HS;

Louis J Barnett Memorial Trophy (highest mark, 87 or over, in advanced and open solo woodwind) - Leonie Brink, Kilgraston;

Thomas H Stewart Memorial Award (highest mark, 87 and over, in advanced and open brass solo) - Angus Grierson, Glenalmond College.
