Blair Castle will be included in new RHS partnershi­p scheme

CRIME UPDATES

A 20-year-old male was caution and charged with a theft from outside Rattray Primary School on Thursday, March 23. A report is to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A 52-year-old male was arrested and charged with multiple thefts at Dunkeld Road in Perth on Sunday, March 26. He is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court at a later date.

LOCAL CRIME

There was an attempt to break in to the fire station in Blairgowri­e Road, Coupar Angus, between 4.30pm on Friday, March 17 and 2pm on Sunday, March 19. Anyone with any informatio­n should contact Tayside Division on 101, or any police officer quoting crime reference CR/7161/17.

A male aged about 25 years described as wearing a dark baseball hat, grey jacket with white flashed and dark trousers was acting in an indecent manner near to Lornty Bridge, Oakbank Road, Blairgowri­e at about 4.30pm on Saturday, March 25.

A window was damaged at Victoria Terrace in Crieff between 10pm on Monday, March 20, and 8.30am on Tuesday, March 21.

A number of windows were damaged at a derelict property on Riverbank Crescent, Kinloch Rannoch, between Wednesday, March 15, and Sunday, March 26.

A window was damaged at Bowton Road, Kinross between Tuesday, March 14 and Wednesday, March 22.

A wooden fence at Springfiel­d Road, Kinross, was damaged at about 3.30pm on Wednesday, March 22.

A quantity of scaffoldin­g Blair Castle has announced that its beautiful grounds and gardens have been accepted into the Royal Horticultu­ral Society’s (RHS) partner gardens scheme.

As part of its membership, the Highland Perthshire landmark will now offer free entry to all RHS members every Wednesday that the grounds and gardens are open to visitors.

Julia Sim, sales and marketing manager for the estate near Blair Atholl, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised in this way and to be joining this scheme.

“It’s wonderful news as it has coincided with the 21st anniversar­y of the restoratio­n of Hercules Garden, the castle’s 18th century, walled, nine-acre garden. The garden was first laid out by the 2nd Duke.

“The benefits are that they can have a choice of gardens to visit if they do not live near an RHS garden. It also helps the RHS promote its membership and enables them to further its charitable work.”

Julia paid tribute to head gardener Andrew Fairley and equipment was stolen from a yard at Johnshill Road, Alyth, between Friday, March 3, and Monday, March 20.

A white Ford B-Max motor vehicle was damaged in Rannoch Road, Perth, between 3pm on Friday, March 17, and noon on Saturday, March 18.

A CCTV camera at St John’s Shopping Centre, Perth, was damaged at 6.45pm on Tuesday, March 21, by two males described as aged about 14 years wearing dark clothing, one of whom was carrying a backpack.
