A shedload of funding donated to local club
It’s a double cash boost for the Carse of Gowrie men
Carse of Gowrie and District Men’s Shed was pleased to receive two separate offers of cash which will greatly help the club with its activities for local men of all ages.
The Eastern Perthshire Action Partnership held its participatory budgeting day recently at Coupar Angus Primary School.
The public was asked to vote online and in person for the projects they wanted to support with grants of up to £1200 available.
The successful Carse of Gowrie organisations to receive support were Inchture Baby and Toddlers Group, Care of Gowrie Community Links Group, Invergowrie Older Persons Project, The Carse Community Café, Friends of Cistern Green (Errol), St Madoes and Kinfauns Parish Church and Carse of Gowrie and District Men’s Shed.
Thanks to the public support it received, the Men’s Shed was awarded £1200 by the Action Partnership.
On top of this, with the help of Carse of Gowrie’s Councillor Douglas Pover, the organisation managed to secure a further £2000 from a charitable trust which supports older people.
Cllr Pover said: “I was delighted in being able to present the Carse of Gowrie and District Men’s Shed with a cheque for £2000.
“I know how important the Men’s Shed activities are for men of all ages. They can all meet together and take part in various activities using their skills or simply come for the companionship and social inclusion.
“I am thrilled they received a further £1200 from the Eastern Perthshire Action Partnership. I would also like to congratulate all the other organisations successful on the day.”
Brian Gauld, secretary of the Carse of Gowrie Men’s Shed, said the combined injection of funds would help with the purchase of much needed equipment.
