Sophie works on sporting legacy
A pupil from Breadalbane Academy has been selected to be a major part of sportscotland’s work with youngsters.
Sophie Innes, (17), will be part of the 2017 Young Ambassador Conference Team which will help shape the organisation’s work in championing sport at a young age.
She will be working at conferences around Scotland this September, helping to present and plan workshops, with work alongside some of the country’s top athletes.
Sophie said:“Being in the Young Ambassador Conference Team gives me a great chance to tell more people about sport and what we do. I would like to help and encourage future ambassadors who are coming up to promote sport.
“I hope to give the future and current ambassadors at the conferences ideas which they can carry forward with them to help pupils at their schools to get involved in sport.”
The conference skills are also expected to help Sophie in a future career.
As part of the National Lottery funded programme, each year sportscotland hosts six regional Young Ambassadors conferences across the country and two pupils from each secondary school in Scotland are invited to attend. sportscotland recruits a team of passionate young leaders to deliver the conference each year.
Stewart Harris, chief executive at sportscotland, said:“Our Young Ambassador conferences provide a great opportunity for pupils who are passionate about sport to meet skilled athletes, gaining hints and tips from the professionals.” Sophie Innes (17)
