New chairman Peter to head Perth Show team

This year’s show will be on August 4 and 5 on the South Inch The team tasked with putting on this year’s Perth Show has been announced.
Perthshire Agricultural Society announced a five-strong group which will head up the popular summer showpiece, which takes place over August 4 and 5 on the South Inch.
Solicitor Peter Stewart, who has a strong background in farming, will take over as chairman of the thirdbiggest agriculture show in Scotland.
He said: “The Perth Show is the key event in my year in office and, although very demanding, it will be made easier by the strength and support of all the directors, the secretary and the sponsors and the enthusiastic trade stands and exhibitors.
“I hope to be able to build on the successes of previous chairmen and help make Perth Show 2017 bigger and better than ever and look forward to welcoming everyone to the South Inch in August.”
Other new members of the team include livestock farmer John Ritchie as vice-chairman and Errol farm manager Donald McDiarmid as junior vicechairman.
The new recruits will join Neil Forbes, who has been secretary of Perthshire Agricultural Society for the past 13 years.
Mr Forbes said: “They represent both business and agricultural sectors.
“The success of Perth Show each year depends on the hard work of everyone from the chairman down and I’m confident this team will provide the perfect leadership for another success.”
