Greatest losers are really big winners Three slimming triumphs celebrate title in Perth

- Staff Reporter

Three Perthshire women are delighted at how they’ve been succeeding in the battle of the bulge and their weight loss stories are inspiring others.

While most people would be offended to be called a ‘loser’, Yolanda Gill , Vicki Ferrie and Dorothy Traynor from Perth are over the moon to have been named the city’s “Greatest Losers” of 2017.

Between them the ladies have lost a life-changing 21 stones, making them joint winners of the Slimming World Perth’s Greatest Losers title.

Yolanda (31), who has lost 6st 4lbs, said: “There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a loser when it feels this good.

“My weight impacted on so many aspects of my life, from struggling to find clothes that I like to fit to not being able to do simple everyday tasks without feeling tired and out of breath.

“I feel like a new woman since losing weight – in fact, I look so different that people who I haven’t seen for a while often can’t believe I’m the same person.”

Another top Perth Slimmer, Dorothy, also noticed how her weight was putting a huge strain on her health as she suffered with chronic back pain and breathlessness.

But Dorothy is now able to walk further and faster than ever before.

Vicki Ferrie, who has now lost over 7 stone, was last year’s winner of the Miss Slinky award and she got named ‘Slimmer of the Week’ numerous times.

Vicki said “Walking through those doors was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, I was embarrassed about my size and scared that I might be the biggest person there.

“I needn’t have worried though, everyone there was so friendly especially my Slimming World consultant Mary Sinclair.

“Since then I’ve made so many friends at the group and I honestly don’t think I could have done it without their support each week.

“People think slimming means going hungry, eating nothing but salad or obsessively counting every calorie you eat, but it’s not like that at all at Slimming World,” explained Mary who runs the Tuesday 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm groups and another on Wednesday at 9.30am at the NCOC Annex, Glasgow Road, Perth.

Mary added: “The changes
