Continued Pipe band The Vale of Atholl Pipe Band held its AGM in the Atholl Palace Hotel when the following office-bearers were elected. President Alister Walker, chairman Chris Duncan, secretary Gillie McNab, treasurer Audrey Sinclair, pipe major Adrian Cramb, quartermas­ter Duncan Edwards, committee members: Kieran Downey, Brian Gibb and Kenny Forbes. The usual reports were read out and the band had an eventful year playing at competitio­ns, concerts and events throughout the country. The band were delighted to welcome Chris Duncan to her new post as chairman. Chris has been connected to the pipe band world for many years and is one of the band’s bass drummers.

Scone

Bridge Club Results on Friday of last week were as follow: S Valentine/A Walker 77.78%, I Forrester/E Collin 61.11%, J Rough/V Grossart 44.44%. Scone and St Martin’s Parish Church Rev Tim Fletcher will lead the worship at St David’s Church on Sunday at 9.30am and thereafter at Guiltown Village Hall at 11am. Rev Alan Livingston­e will lead the worship at Scone New Church at 10.30am. Teas and coffees will be served after the service. Seniors Club The club is holding a ‘Surprise Meeting’ in the RDM

Sixty ladies from Auchterard­er Golf Club turned out on a fine sunny Saturday to welcome in the new season. The traditiona­l greensomes matchplay event was won by the squad of vice captain Irene Twinn. Captain Alison Sawyer welcomed players and non-playing ladies to lunch afterwards in the clubhouse, and graciously accepted defeat before going on to announce the Winter League prizewinne­rs.

St Madoes

St Madoes/Kinfauns Church Sunday’s Morning Worship is at 10.30am in the church. The Snack Group is having a social on Tuesday from 1.30pm at the community centre. Wednesday’s Bible Study Group meets at 11am in church. All welcome. The Guild AGM and Fellowship Tea is on Thursday, from 2pm at West Carse Hall then Chestnut Tree Café. Next Friday, there is a Good Friday service. It is a time of reflection and will include an informal communion at 7pm at the church.
