Perth sitting out in front of the rest
Perthshire men’s first team continue to lead the MNL Division Three after securing a 4-1 victory against Aberdeen Grammar FPs.
It was a first period dominated by the Fair City squad and they scored midway through the half before netting a second shortly after.
Two early short corner goals in the second half put the game out of sight. But Aberdeen did force their way back into the game briefly to get on the scoresheet. Goalscorers for Shire were A Czub, M Czub, M Robertson and N Robertson. Results elsewhere now mean that the title won’t be decided until the final game of the season on April 22. Perthshire currently have a three point lead.
Meanwhile, Perthshire men’s second team were in fine form in front of goal to defeat Grove Menzieshill men’s third squad 10-3.
A blistering first 20 minutes from Shire resulted in a string of opportunities which were tucked into the back of the net. By half-time the game was over with the score sitting at 8-1. Credit goes to Grove Menzieshill for their second half performance.
H Wilkie, R Henderson, R Fleming, C Martin, A Moffat and T Adams were all on the scoresheet in what was a rampant display from Shire.
U16 National Club Cup Finals
Perthshire U16 boys travelled to Glasgow for the Club Cup finals day and suffered a semi-final defeat againstWesternWildcats.
Despite a good start, Shire fell one behind when Western converted from a short corner. There were good spells of possession in the second half from Perth but the opposition proved strong and would run out 3-0 winners.
The result meant that Shire faced off against Grove Menzieshill in the third and fourth place play off match.
And they would secure third courtesy of a 4-1 win. Goalscorers were A Wilson (2), R Fleming and J Stephen.
