Build on last week’s win

- Super League

Baker is off to Sweden Jeanfield Swifts v Lochee United Building on last week’s victory will be the aim for Jeanfield Swifts manager Ross Gunnion on Saturday afternoon.

The Perth squad have climbed out of the bottom three of the Super League standings following a hardfought victory away at Camelon.

And now a chance presents itself to keep the momentum flowing as Lochee United, currently sitting in eighth, visit the Riverside this weekend.

The Dundee side will be a familiar sight for boss Gunnion with both teams bumping up from the East Premier last term.

“We’ll be looking to build on last week with a win against Lochee,” Gunnion said. “I’d say they are almost safe with the points tally they’ve amassed so far but that won’t mean they’ll be easing up.

“They are packed full of good players having spent big in the summer bringing in ex pro’s and high profile junior players.

“I’m sure they would have expected to be challenging higher up the table than they actually are.

“Our mentality has to be right and we have to battle as we did last week. If we do that we have the quality in the side to hurt teams.”

Meanwhile, Swifts have lost the services of forward Lewis Baker who is set to move to Sweden.

Gunnion said: “Unfortunately we will be without Lewis for the rest of the season after he accepted a coaching role in Sweden.

“It was an opportunity he couldn’t turn down and everyone at the club wishes him well and thanks him for his time with us.”

Defensive pair Lee Deans (ankle) and Stuart McDiarmid (shin) are doubtful for tomorrow’s game.
