We caught up with Canadian a real favourite
Dasovic was adored during his time in Perth The best for last. This was a tough decision. I can honestly say my most memorable match was anytime I had the opportunity to wear a Saints jersey on my back. I need to thank the people of Perth for giving me a home which I longed for after playing in various countries. As you can tell by the games I have listed, the year 1998/99 will forever be etched in my memory and heart. 13/11/1996 - SAINTS 3 EAST FIFE 0
This might not sound like a belter but it was my first ever game for St Johnstone and we ended up winning 3-0. We followed that result up with nine consecutive wins. Not a bad start to my career with Saints!
01/01/1997 - SAINTS 7 DUNDEE 2 I would normally celebrate Hogmanay with a few drinks but this night was one of plenty goals at McDiarmid Park. I remember there was a great crowd in and we managed to put seven past the lads from Dundee.
25/01/1997 - RANGERS 2 SAINTS 0 We were leading the first division and already preparing for the Premier League so a cup game against Rangers at Ibrox was a great test. We ended up losing 2-0 but what a great atmosphere and it made us even more focused on promotion.
14/11/1998 - SAINTS 2 CELTIC 1
This game stands out for me because the week before we were pummelled by Rangers at home 7-0 and what a test the week after. But the boys showed how strong our spirit and team unity was with a deserved 2-1 win.
23/09/1998 - CELTIC 0 SAINTS 1 It was a midweek game where we beat Celtic for the first time in 20-something years at Parkhead. What a great place to play by the way. Did I mention that I scored the only goal of this game!? 29/11/1998 - RANGERS 2 SAINTS
The League Cup final against Rangers at Parkhead. Not a great memory as we didn’t win but I did score a cracker - and that didn’t happen very often! I was also named man of the match which was a nice prize. But we wanted the trophy.
27/10/1998 - SAINTS 3 HEARTS 0
Semi-final of the League Cup at Easter Road and what a great performance with some fantastic goals. It made everyone take notice of the superb results we were achieving and the football we were playing. Oh, and I scored again!
30/09/1999 - SAINTS 3 MONACO 3
A UEFA Cup second leg against Monaco. This was a great night in Perth and we managed to draw 3-3 against a real star-studded group of players. I even managed to sneak one past their goalkeeper at the time, Fabien Barthez!
23/05/1999 - SAINTS 1 DUNDEE 0
We needed a win to have a chance of qualifying for Europe. Paul Kane scored a header and Alan Main was sharp in goals. It was a day I’ll never forget with grown women and men in tears. The bonus didn’t hurt either, thanks Mr Brown!
