Success for Swim initiative

-

Live Active Leisure’s Swim Success programme has come to the end of a productive first year - but its positive impact is to continue.

Local firm Perthshire Flooring, owned by husband and wife team, Garry and Julie Cumming, will again be providing sponsorship for another year in the water.

Launched in April 2016, the scheme replaced the Scottish Government funded‘Top Up Swimming Lessons’ programme when funding was ended.

Swim Success aim to offer tuition for nervous beginners who have never got round to learning or have been too fearful.

The sponsorship from Perthshire Flooring provided an additional block of free swimming lessons out-with school hours and resulted in an additional 68 children of primary school age taking up the offer.

Those completing the block can now swim to Scottish Swimming Triple S Standard or have improved their confidence in water.

The continued support of Perthshire Flooring is vital to the programme’s success.

Funding from the company ensures local children and families who require additional help with the essential life skill of swimming can keep benefitting.

Julie Cumming, of the Canal Street based firm, said:“We have been thrilled to be involved in such a forward thinking programme.

“And as both business owners in the area and parents ourselves, we feel this offers a great opportunity to give something back to our customers and the people of Perth and Kinross.”
