Give view on Tay Cities Deal
A Holyrood committee is looking for views from the public on the Tay Cities Deal.
The Tay Cities Deal, a joint venture between Perth and Kinross Council and authorities in Angus, Dundee and Fife, aims to deliver services across the region with funding from the Scottish and UK governments.
The local government and communities committee at Holyrood is now seeking opinions from the public, and local organisations, on the impact and running of the Tay Cities Deal and on whether it is meeting expectations and working for local communities.
Committee convener Bob Doris MSP said: “We’ve all seen the headlines and attention given to the wave of new city region deals that are popping up across the country.
“The original city deals brought the opportunity for significant investment from both Scottish and UK governments to boost local economies outwith London.
“There was much excitement and anticipation around the additional investment, which could be of strategic benefit to local economies and communities.
“Our committee now wants to examine this from a local government perspective. We want to hear from the general public, organisations and businesses on whether they think city region deals are on track to deliver local growth and innovation.”
Perth and Kinross Council says it has a shared vision with the other three local authorities in the Tay Cities Deal.
A spokesperson said: “We will create a region where fair business growth, social inclusion and skills development is at the heart of everything we do.
“Our vision is to become a cohesive region of knowledge with a culture of creativity within Scotland and the UK.”
