A twist on tradition with quirky VW style
Greg inside the vintage VW Greg and Pam Blower of VW Affection A Perth business is offering a twist on tradition when it comes to wedding transportation.
VW Affection, run by husband and wife team Greg and Pam Blower, offers quirky vehicles for couples wishing to arrive in style on their special day.
As well as weddings, the firm’s VW Splitscreen Camper and VW Trekker are also available for chauffeuring to special events and even promotional work – both in the vicinity of the Fair City and further afield, subject to mileage.
Greg’s passion for Volkswagens initially stemmed from the Mod scooter scene, the music of the era and the lifestyle.
This has grown over the course of the last 20 years, with a love for restoring vehicles starting out with various Lambrettas and progressing to VWs.
Greg and Pam bought their VW Splitscreen camper in 2007 as a shell in need of complete restoration.
The labour of love – which has seen the ride quality improved and modern upgrades installed – took nine years and was carried out when time and funds allowed.
The couple thanked friends who provided the help and support needed to help give the iconic vintage VW vehicles a new lease of life, and also expressed gratitude to Murrayshall Hotel for its recent assistance.
Greg said: “Thanks to much-valued friend Scott – without whom we could never have completed this to such a high standard of detail – and also to Pete, for allowing me to restore the VW Trekker at his workshop and for his help in painting it.
“Having got married ourselves in 2008 and not being able to source a VW to get married in, this gave us the idea to be able to provide our lovely finished camper to other couples who wanted to add that ‘retro’ touch to their special day.
“We ended up using a 1960 Lambretta for our wedding day – which added something special on our big day and some amazing photo opportunities.
“We take great pride in our Volkswagens and look forward to having them make people’s big day even more special.”
