Continued Thursday Friends The final afternoon tea party for this season took place on Thursday afternoon. Guests were asked to bring a small ornament and prizes were given to the ones picked by guest judges. Entertainm­ent was provided by old favourites Robin and Bob. Tickets were handed out for the bus trip and high tea leaving The Red House Hotel at 12.30pm and returning at 5pm. Strathmore Bowling Club The green opens for the new season at the bowling club on Forfar Road on Saturday, April 22, at 2pm. Come along and watch, or have a go at bowls!

Clunie Church The service for Holy Week took place in Clunie Church on Wednesday of this week at 7pm.

Craft Collective The Dunkeld Craft collective is holding an Easter market at the Taybank in Dunkeld on Easter Sunday, noon-4pm. Lots of artists and makers from around Dunkeld and kids activities with RSPB and profession­al face painter. In aid of ‘the field’ in Dunkeld.

Easter services The LECT service on Good Friday will take the form of John Stainer’s Crucifixio­n in Dunbarney Church at 6.30pm. (Allan Kelman will be one of the soloists). Easter Sunday’s dawn Service held in Tron Square, Dunning at 7am will be followed by breakfast. Children’s Easter egg hunt, crafts and breakfast will be held in Dunning Church on Sunday at 9.30am. Easter service in Dunning Church at 11am will be conducted by the Rev James Aitchison (with entry of the daffodil cross). Diary dates include choir from Stewartsvi­lle Parish, New Jersey who will be performing in Dunning Church on April 22 at 7pm, as part of a Scottish tour. Please support this exciting event - entry by donation. LECT songs of praise event will be held in Dunning Church on April 24 at 7.30pm. If you would like a favourite hymn to be included in this service, contact either Fiona Duff or Allan Kelman. Dunning Bowling Club The lotto numbers this week were 2, 3, 8, 20. There were no winners; next week’s prize money will be £2000. The new bowling season opens on Saturday at 2pm. Anyone wishing to try a game of bowls is welcome to come along on the day. All welcome.

Errol Horticultu­ral Associatio­n will have their annual coffee morning in Errol Village Hall on April 29. The schedules will be ready for uplift. Attraction­s will include a cake and candy stall and raffle and the event will start at 10am until noon. All welcome. Errol Church A Good Friday vigil will be held in the church tonight (Friday) at 7pm. An Easter family service will take place on Sunday at 11am with the Revive cafe in the Ochil Room One on Wednesday, April 19, from 1pm to 2.30pm and choir practice at 7pm.

Forteviot

Easter service The Easter Sunday service will be held in Forteviot Church on Sunday at 9.30am and will be led by Rev James W Aitchison. Bowling Club Lotto numbers for the drawn on April 9 were: 4, 7, 11, 12. There was no winner, resulting in a rollover of £1000. The next draw will take place in the clubhouse on Sunday at 10am.

Calling all bakers Volunteers are needed to provide home baking for an art exhibition which will be held in the Village Hall on Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23. Input would be welcomed from new and younger members of the community. Tray bakes, cookies, cakes and scones would be appreciate­d. Folk Club Glenfarg Folk Club meets in ‘Backstage at the Green’ Hotel, Kinross every Monday night, starting at 8pm prompt. The hotel are offering special deals for folk club attendees with 10 per cent discount on meals in Jocks Bar (food only) and 15 per cent discount on bed and breakfast rate. It is important that at the time of booking, requests are made for these discounts in advance. In return Green Hotel guests attending the folk club will be offered a discount on the nonmember entry fee. Ewan McLennan will make his long awaited return to the club with his excellent vocals and guitar skills on April 17. Since arriving on the folk scene just a few years ago, he has made a massive reputation for himself for great songwritin­g, musiciansh­ip and tales. A really exciting night is in store. Entry is £6 for members; £9 for visitors. Spring sale A spring sale will be held in the Williamson Hall, Kirk Wynd, Abernethy on Saturday, April 22, from 2pm to 4pm. Attraction­s will include refreshmen­ts, children’s crafts, face painting, accessorie­s, produce, cake/ candy, games, raffle and plants for sale. Entry costs £3 for adults; £1 for children and is being held in aid of Abernethy Church funds. Any ideas and donations will be gratefully accepted. So get planning your contributi­ons whether it includes scarves, jewellery, handbags, baking, preserves, plants, produce, crafts, something for the raffle or why not invite a friend for the afternoon. The Crucifixio­n The Earn Singers will be performing John Stainer’s “The Crucifixio­n” in Dunbarney Parish Church on Good Friday, April 14, at 6.30pm. This work features solos for bass and tenor and the choir has been lucky to have local singers, Allan Kelman (tenor) and Alistair Allan (bass) and members of the choir to fill these roles. Interspers­ed throughout are hymns where the congregati­on can participat­e and it also features the well-known song “God so loved the world”. It will be a very meaningful way to begin the Easter reflection­s and it is hoped that many members of the community will come along and support it. Daffodil tea Kettins-Ardler Guild is hosting a daffodil tea on Saturday, May 6, at Kettins Parish Hall between 2pm and 4pm. There will be stalls including plants, cake and candy, tombola and a raffle. Home baking. Entry £2.50 for adults, 50p for children. All welcome.

Session House A talk by Sally Atkinson entitled Madagascar - Island of Mysteries will take place on Wednesday, April 26 at 7.30pm. The illustrate­d talk will cover the formation of Madagascar after its breakaway from Africa, the colonisati­on of animals and subsequent extinction­s and developmen­t of the present day flora and fauna. It will also cover the migration of people, their history and culture which have melded to form the Malagasy nation in modern Madagascar. Luncarty

Bowling Club Lottery numbers this week were 1, 8, 10 and 17. There was no winning line and next week’s prize money will be £2000. The bowling green will open on Saturday, April 22, at 2pm.
