Murdo Fraser holds talk on IndyRef2
MSP Murdo Fraser A Perthshire-based MSP believes residents are becoming disheartened over a second referendum on Scottish independence.
Conservative Murdo Fraser held a meeting at Blairgowrie Town Hall last week to discuss the SNP government’s proposal to hold a second vote in the next two years.
He discussed the prospects and potential impact of staging a second independence referendum.
Questions were put to Mr Fraser over the processes behind the vote in Holyrood and on what he called ‘inconsistencies’in the SNP’s case for a second referendum.
Murdo Fraser said:“Folk across Perthshire are disappointed, disheartened and concerned at the First Minister and the SNP’s attempt to drag us back to a divisive second independence referendum.
“Blairgowrie is an area that the SNP has traditionally performed well in but the message I received on Tuesday night and on the doorstep is that opposition to a second vote has never been stronger.
“There was a real desire amongst those attending to learn more about the process over the next few years as the UK Government negotiates our exit from the EU and what opportunities this presents for Scotland.
“I am grateful to everyone who took the time to come out and attend the meeting and hope Nicola Sturgeon finally gets the message that people in Perthshire are sick of constitutional navel gazing.”
