Thoughts on coming elections

Dear Editor

-

Jim Clark’s ongoing crusade against those Unionists, on cold Saturday mornings, persuading the populace of the futility of Indyref2, is wearing somewhat thin.

He contends that since Scotland voted to remain in Europe, then that is sufficient reason for another divisive separation from the UK to go ahead.

It’s a bit like saying, as Glasgow and Dundee voted for independence in 2014, that is sufficient reason to have a re-run of the EU Referendum.

Jim, as a nationalist, would it not be more sensible to get out on the High Street yourself and ply your political wares, rather than writing letters about those from the opposite side of the spectrum?

The ailing SNP needs all the help it can get! G E Muir Scone

After examining my postal voting form for the coming local elections, I have decided the Scottish voting system is unfair.

The SNP has two candidates on the list, all other parties only one. The voter is invited to enter three votes on the list, numbering them in order of preference.

There is only one candidate who suits me and I have voted for him only. The first-past-the-post system has its faults, but it is preferable to the present situation where one party can put forward up to three candidates, thus increasing their chances of getting their representatives on the council.

At the moment, in our ward, unless you vote SNP you have only one candidate on the list eligible for your vote. George McMillan, by email
